Assistant Pathologist – Rice

Core Responsibilities

• Isolation, purification, preservation, and maintenance of plant pathogens.
• Disease screening for Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB), Blast, False Smut, and Sheath Blight in rice.
• Mass multiplication of pathogens and inoculum preparation for artificial screening.
• Artificial inoculation and hotspot field screening of breeding materials, parents, and hybrids.
• Greenhouse management and plant pathology laboratory operations.
• Disease data recording, analysis, and interpretation.

Key Requirements

• M.Sc. in Plant Pathology/ Plant Protection (Specialization in Rice Crops is preferred)
• 1-2 years of research experience in rice pathology
• Knowledge of rice insect pests: BPH, Gall Midge, and Stem Borer.
• Experience in assay standardization and disease resistance screening
• Willingness to undertake field visits and travel to disease hotspots.
