JOB BRIEF

A Product Development Officer in a seed company acts as the essential technical bridge between Research & Development (R&D) and the commercial sales team. Their primary goal is to identify, test, and provide the reliable feedback for advance or discard the new varieties that meet specific regional market needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Trial Management: Plan and execute multi-location field trials for new hybrid candidates to evaluate performance in various climates and management practices.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Meticulously record agronomic data, such as yield, disease resistance, and fruit quality, to decide which varieties should move forward commercial launch.
• Market Intelligence: Conduct market surveys to identify market gaps and understand the emerging farmers and consumers preferences.
• Farmer Engagement: To support the commercial team for Organise field days, demonstrations, and crop seminars to showcase product USPS (Unique Selling Propositions) to large groups of growers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Horticulture.

Experience: 2-3 years in vegetables trialing.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Vegetable crops as well as field crops and modern agronomic practices.

Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex trial data to make data-driven advancement or rejection recommendations.

Communication: Strong presentation and interpersonal skills for presenting to internal stakeholders.

Adaptability: Willingness to travel extensively and work in diverse outdoor field conditions.
